SUMMER PROGRAMS at the Montessori School of Northampton offer a wide range of enriching and fun sessions for children starting at age 18 months and all the way through middle school. Our summer sessions are inspired by the Montessori approach. Toddler programming helps engage children’s innate “do it myself” drive, with opportunities to hone physical and practical skills, learn social lessons and name their feelings while noticing the feelings of others. The preschool curriculum includes theme based programming, focused art classes, an emphasis on practical life skills and extended outdoor exploration. Aspects of the Montessori  academic experience from which elementary and middle school students will benefit include independent work  choices, respect and care for social relationships and  advanced practical life skills.

Since 1976 the Montessori School of Northampton has offered exciting and engaging programs for children in the tradition of Italian educator Maria Montessori. The school is located in a peaceful, residential area convenient to downtown Northampton, Route 9 and I-91. Families often commute and carpool from surrounding towns such as Hatfield, Amherst, Williamsburg, Easthampton, Hadley, and the hilltowns.

Admissions:

Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of attendance will be sent to you within ten days by email as space and match is determined. 1. FULL PAYMENT: Submit full payment with registration.

Your child will join our skilled and inspired staff for fun in the sun, shade and water led by a Montessori trained Lead Teacher. Classrooms at the Montessori School of Northampton are thoughtfully prepared environments set up to inspire creative play, independence and joy. The program’s low teacher to child ratio supports individualized time with students and creates a relaxed, summer pace.  The children are encouraged to make their own play choices from the different areas of the classroom: Reading Loft, Everyday Living, Peace Corner, Blocks, puzzles, games, and other engaging manipulatives. Fantasy play is encouraged!

Each two week session highlights a different theme. Our resident artist plans daily art projects related to the session’s theme. At circle time, classroom teachers explore the theme through books, songs, and teacher presentations. The program features fun outdoor play in a park-like setting, wading pools, water play (PM only), and a large children’s playground.
