SUMMER PROGRAMS at the Montessori School of Northampton offer a wide range of enriching and fun sessions for toddler through middle school age children. Our programs are inspired by the Montessori approach. The toddler and preschool curriculum includes theme based programming, focused art classes, an emphasis on practical life skills and extended outdoor exploration. Aspects of the Montessori  academic experience from which elementary and middle school students will benefit include independent work  choices, respect and care for social relationships and  advanced practical life skills.

For 40 over years the Montessori School of Northampton has offered exciting and engaging programs for children in the tradition of Italian educator Maria Montessori. The school is located in a peaceful, residential area convenient to downtown Northampton, Route 9 and I-91. Families often commute and carpool from surrounding towns such as Hatfield, Amherst, Williamsburg, Easthampton, Hadley, and the hilltowns.

Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmation of attendance will be sent to you within ten days by email as space and match is determined. Once a program is full, we will automatically place additional applicants on a waiting list in the order in which they are received. In this case, parents will be notified in writing, and deposit checks will be returned. Families on the waiting list will be notified as soon as an opening occurs and tuition for the program will be due at that time.

Your child will join our skilled and inspired staff for fun in the sun, shade and water. Classrooms at the Montessori School of Northampton are thoughtfully prepared environments set up to inspire creative play, independence and joy. The program’s low teacher to child ratio supports individualized time with students and creates a relaxed, summer pace.  The children are encouraged to make their own play choices from the different areas of the classroom: Reading Loft, Everyday Living, Peace Corner, Blocks, puzzles, games, and other engaging manipulatives. Fantasy play is encouraged! Each two week session highlights a different theme. Our resident artist plans daily art projects related to the session’s theme. At circle time, classroom teachers explore the theme through books, songs, and teacher presentations. Each session includes a field trip that is integrated into the theme. The program features fun outdoor play in a park-like setting, wading pools, water play (PM only), and a large children’s playground. We offer indoor fun in one of the best-equipped, most beautiful classroom environments in the Pioneer Valley.
