Teaching Spanish in a Montessori Middle School classroom is a fun, interactive, and at times, comical endeavor! The Middle School students thrive in conversational activities and speaking games. They are very motivated to develop their language skills so that they can become engaged citizens in a community that is becoming more bilingual
Students are able to engage in lessons approaching many different areas of Spanish language and culture, including art, history, and current lifestyles in the Latino community. Their curiosity is a large part of the learning process, and as their teacher it is a pleasure to fan that flame of curiosity.
One thing that is particularly appealing about a Montessori education is that lessons can be adapted to suit the different needs of each student. It is a joy to see students growing at their own pace. Regardless of how fast they are moving, all students are developing communication skills and learning to make conversation in Spanish.
