Established in 1976, the Montessori School of Northampton (MSN) is an independent school located in the welcoming, culturally vibrant town of Northampton, MA. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Pioneer Valley and near Hartford and Boston, MSN is an AMS/AISNE accredited school enrolling approximately 100 students from toddlers through middle school. Job Description:

MSN is seeking an Interim Head of School, and will start considering applicants immediately until the position is filled. The Interim Head of School must be able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and the Board of Trustees to promote a peaceful community and respectful school culture dedicated to academic excellence through a Montessori pedagogical approach. The Interim Head of School will be responsible for day-to-day educational leadership of the school as well as the implementation of its mission.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Ideal Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a background in Montessori education, excellent administrative, communication, and management skills, as well as experience overseeing academic programs and daily operations within an independent school structure. He or she should have an advanced degree, experience creating and managing budgets of approximately $2 million, demonstrated experience improving business/administrative efficiency, a proven track record of community fundraising, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, the ideal candidate is director certified in Massachusetts DEEC (or has the ability to obtain this certification).

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimally, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, experience in PreK-8 school administration, and demonstrated leadership working with parents, faculty, and other community members.
